US Companies Hired 692,000 New Workers in June, ADP Says<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

US companies added more jobs than expected in June, with the\nprivate sector hiring 692,000 workers, according to a report published\nWednesday by payroll processing firm ADP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The gain was well above the 550,000 new jobs expected to be\nadded by economists surveyed by Dow Jones \u2014 but was a steep decline from the\n886,000 jobs added in May, according to the revised figures released Wednesday.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

British Industry\u2019s Output Now at Record Growth Levels <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

British factories enjoyed the strongest growth in output on\nrecord in June but warned they expected to raise their prices at the fastest\npace in nearly 40 years in response to a shortage of key components and\nmaterials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Confederation of British Industry said its quarterly\nsurvey of manufacturing showed that the rebound across the sector was gaining momentum\ngoing into the autumn.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The business lobby group said that with Europe, the US,\nChina and much of Asia lifting coronavirus restrictions, its monthly index of\nindustrial output growth over the past three months had set a blistering pace \u2013\nto reach the highest since the survey began in 1975.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australian Manufacturing Expanded at Fastest Pace Ever During June<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The Australian Industry Group\u2019s Performance of Manufacturing\nIndex survey has recorded its best result since its 1992 beginning, with each\nactivity index and each sector in growth.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The overall June result of 63.2 was up 1.4 points versus\nMay, and was the ninth straight month of growth, despite headwinds due to the\nCovid-19 pandemic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Any result above 50 indicates expansion, and below it\ncontraction. 50 equals no change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

German Economy Poised for a Great Upswing This Year<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Germany\u2019s economy is poised for a strong upswing in the\nsecond half of this year, with activity likely to reach pre-crisis levels as\nsoon as this summer, the Bundesbank said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The central bank\u2019s updated projections, which are published\ntwice a year, are more optimistic than in December. They see Europe\u2019s largest\neconomy expanding 3.7 per cent this year and 5.2 per cent in 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
