The Institute of Digital Engineering (IDE) has published a plan to modernise the UK\u2019s manufacturing sector.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This comes as industry leaders warned the country risked becoming a \u201cdigital dinosaur\u201d compared with the US, China and Germany.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Industry has been using digital tools, such as CAD, for decades. However, recent advances in processing, sensing and connectivity are poised to revolutionise the way we develop and make things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Australian manufacturers are putting in their best performance in three years as their recovery from the recession continues.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Australian Industry Group’s performance of manufacturing index rose by a further 1.1 points to 59.9 on Thursday, its highest level since March 2018.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It was the index’s sixth consecutive rise and showed the industry was comfortably in expansion territory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
