U.S. 500: Top Manufacturing States<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Which states have the most manufacturing headquarters?  Here are the top 10 based on the 2019 IndustryWeek U.S. 500, IndustryWeek&#8217;s annual list of the top 500 publicly held U.S. manufacturers based on revenue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The state with the most manufacturing headquarters employs 1,325,700 representing 7.72% of the workforce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" aria-label=\"Watch the slideshow (opens in a new tab)\" href=\"https:\/\/www.industryweek.com\/resources\/2019-iw-us-500-top-manufacturing-states\/gallery?slide=1\" target=\"_blank\">Watch the slideshow<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">UK manufacturing slump eases but Brexit and trade wars still take a toll<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The Confederation of British Industry (CBI) has published their monthly survey of UK manufacturing, showing an easing in the recent downturn, Reuters&nbsp;<a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\" href=\"https:\/\/uk.reuters.com\/article\/uk-britain-economy-manufacturing\/uk-factory-slump-eases-a-little-in-august-cbi-idUKKCN1VA0WP\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;on Tuesday, August 20.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Industrial order expectations from UK manufacturers reported a balance of -13% below normal. This was an improvement from the previous month\u2019s balance of -34% and trumped a poll of economists who predicted a -23% balance.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Source: Capital Com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">German manufacturing stays firmly in contraction mode in August<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A preliminary reading of the closely-watched manufacturing purchasing managers\u2019 index (PMI) for August gave a score of 43.6, up from 43.2 in July. They\u2019re Finding It Impossible<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Global companies are rushing to seek alternative bases, only to find even promising countries like Vietnam don\u2019t match up.
